1  1.  School: General Information and Academic Administration
1.1  School Profile
University of the Cordilleras Grade school and junior high school was place where I did practice teaching. It is located in Hamada, Queen Palace. Bellow the describing of school:
Vision:
The grade School and Junior High School of the university of the Cordilleras envision itself to be the center of excellent in basic education in preparing to become productive citizen.
Mission:
a.       Provide learning experiences for the total development of the learners;
b.      Develop student’s creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving skill;
c.       Foster awareness, respect, appreciation, and responsibility towards one’s culture and nation;
d.      Promote deeper sense of moral and spiritual values;
e.       Periodically update curriculum to keep abreast of change;
f.       Produce researches to improve the teaching-learning process; and
g.      Provide assistance to the community through outreach and extension programs.
The history of school:
University of the Cordilleras Grade School and Junior High School is a non-stock, non-profit private education institution. It offers no-sectarian training in different educational field: high school, grade school, and pre-school education. The Grade School Department opened its door in 1946. The School Principals in succession are: Mr. Felix B. Claustro, Ms. L. Tuazon, Ms. Florfina Gacad, Ms. Carmen Park, Ms. Libertad Quetulio, Ms. Carmen Park, Mr. Gordofredo Ayson, Mr. Marcos Diasen, Ms. Cynthia Ano, Mr. Larry Awingan, Mr. Leon Baugisan, Ms. Jaunita Bootan, Mr. Percival Mabanta, Ms. Melda Sejane, Ms. Sachico Rullan, Ms. Pura Domingo, Mr. Ediberto Padua, Ms. Gloria Dela Pena, Ms. Nellie Olairez, Mr. Manolo Ballug, Mr. Pedro Figuracion, Ms. Rosita Papay, Ms. Anjelandra Bagsic, Ms. Erlinda Eslava, Ms. Carmelita B. Lamaton, Ms. Victorina Mirabel S. Garcia, and Ms. Glducation. The objectives of Grade School Program Eductaion:
a.       Participate actively in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities organized by the school, Department of education and identified civic organization;
b.      Have developed basic communication, creatively, curiosity, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, and
c.       Contribute to community development by adhering to value-laden principles.
The Learning Outcomes of Grade School are;
a.       Apply the language through interactive learning
b.      Demonstrate understanding of basic mathematical concepts and principles
c.       Exhibit scientific and values to solve problems critically
d.      Exhibit logical interpretation of data and information
The UC High School opened its doors in 1947. The School Principals in succession are: Mrs. Emilia San Juan, Mrs. Carmen Parks, Mr. Felix Claustro, Mrs. Corazon Concepcion, Ms. Pura Domingo, Mr. Ernesto Arellano, Mr. Antonio Gumabol, Mr. Ray Dean Salvosa, Ms. Teresita Bacugan, Mrs. Erlinda Dumo, Mr. Ramon Narag, Ms. Divina Mendoza, Mr. Eduardo Canave, Mrs. Lucia Ruiz, Mrs. Carmelita B. Lamaton, Ms. Victorina Mirabel S. Gracia, and Ms. Gladys S. Sibayan.
On October 27, 2016, the Grade School and Junior High School Campus was renamed as Campus Libertad in honor of Dr. Libertad D. Quetulio who aws once an Executive Dean and Trustee of Baguio Colleges from 1946 to 1966 and Baguio Collage Foundation 1966 to 1969.
1.2  Academic support system
There are many facilities to support academic system. Those are: canteen, dentist clinic, management information system, library, internet connection, play ground, vending machine, discipline coordinator, and laboratory room.
1.3  Teaching system
Students go to school five days a week. Each of subjects has an hour per meeting. For English subject, students get it every day.
1.4  Materials and other learning sources
The teacher used text book and found other sources by internet to get materials.
1.5  Measurement and evaluation system
Assessment is a measurement of subject. There were two kinds of assessment that used. Those are: formative assessment and summative assessment. Bellow the percentage of subject:
·         Subject of language    : writing (30%), Performance test (50%), and   assessment (20%)
·         Subject of science and mathematic : writing (40%), Performance test (50%), and assessment (20%)
·         Subject of mapeh (music, computer) : writing (20%), Performance (60%), and assessment test (20%)
1.6  Curriculum
This school uses end-hand basic education curriculum.
1.7  Teaching plan
Generally, the teachers made teaching plan that included in the lesson plan.
2  2.  Pedagogic Content
2.1  Teaching methods of the teacher that you observed
Teaching methods are important for teachers. It helps teachers to deliver material. As a result, the students understand about subject that was delivered by teachers. Here, teacher used some teaching methods. Those are: discussion, explanation, and games.
2.2  Their learning materials and innovation
There were some learning materials that were tough: literature, sentences and fragment, figures of speech, and borrowed English’s words from French’s words.
2.3  Sources of learning and technology used by the teacher
The teacher used text book and internet to looking for materials and used projector and laptop to help her delivering the materials.
2.4  Authentic assessment used by the teacher
Quiz and remedial were authentic assessment that teacher used. The teacher would be give quiz after finished one topic.
3   3.  Teaching Plan
3.1  Curriculum
Practice teacher used same curriculum that was used in the laboratory school.
3.2  Teaching plan related to your major
At first, practice teaching used lesson plan that used in his country. But the next meeting, he used lesson plan that given by critic teacher.
4 4. Teaching Practice
4.1  Procedures of teaching
Generally, the practice teacher used same procedures of teaching. The practice teacher made lesson plan before teaching in the class. The practice teacher opened the learning study by greeting, checked the attendance, and asked the previous material. Then teacher explained the materials and also gave assessment to measure the students’ ability.
4.2  The management and organizing activities
The practice teacher used lesson plan to manage and organize some activities in the class. The practice teacher has an hour to teach in the class. He divided in three parts of time. It was 15 minutes for opening and stimulating of students. Then 30 minutes for explaining and giving assessment. And the last, 15 minutes for closing and giving feedback.
4.3  Problem solving
Problems came out when tough in the class. One of them was about culture. There was a little different culture, because practice teacher has different culture. It can be solved by consulting with critic teacher.
4.4  Classroom management
Class’ management was important for teacher. Being practice teacher, it became challenging. Practice teacher observed the critic teacher performance. As a result, practice teacher can imitated it.
5 5. Summary and Suggestions
5.1  Purpose of practicum
Practice teacher can practice theories that be gotten from lecturer. Moreover practice teacher gets more experiences about teaching process in foreign.
5.2  Procedures of practicum
Practice teacher observes the learning process of critic teacher. Then practice teacher makes lesson plan based on suggestion from critic teacher. Practice teacher implements it in the class. After that evaluation is given by critic teacher.
5.3  Outcomes of practicum
Practice teacher able to implement what he got from lecturer. Then practice teacher gets more experiences about learning process in foreign.
5.4  The challenges of practicum
Culture became one of challenges during learning process in the class. In other side, language was also being challenges. It happened, because sometime students spoke in their mother tongue.
5.5  Overall impression
Overall, practice teacher got great impression during join this program.
5.6  Suggestions for future improvement
Suggestions are needed to make something better in the future. Practice teacher suggests that more orientation needs for student who will be join in this program. Orientation for giving information about university that receives of student from other university.
